The Lynko system was born out of a unique circumstance. Geci's constant moving with her family led her to seek a constant structure, a 'shell', that could be carried from one house to another. Inspired by Marie Kondo's philosophy of living efficiently with only the objects that bring joy, Geci designed the Lynko system to offer users the chance to design their own space.
The Lynko system's unique properties lie in its flexibility and adaptability. Comprising different sized metal frames and wooden hinges, the system allows for an innumerable amount of configurations. These self-standing structures can serve as clothes hangers, office panels, dividing screens, and even a children's puppet theatre. The system comes with accessories such as mirrors, hooks, hangers, trays, shelves, and storage pockets made of fabric, felt, or leather. The frames can be moved by the hinges to adapt to any space and can be folded flat for storage or easy transport.
The Lynko system is realized through a combination of bent metal frames, wooden hinges, and various accessories. The frames range from 0.28cm in width and 1.25 to 0.55cm in width and 1.63 height. The hinges from 0.07 to 0.68 cm long. The most basic structure, comprising two frames and four wooden hinges, weighs approximately 4kg. It can be packed easily by folding it and can be separated in two just by pulling it out, eliminating the need for screws.
The Lynko system is not just a design marvel but also a testament to Geci's commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Geci's research into nomadic furniture revealed that most were not suitable for being used in a more permanent or quality environment. She wanted something that, as well as being transportable and transformable, would be good quality and worth taking. That is why she chose to use good quality materials, such as copper, wood, leather, and good craftsmanship.
The Lynko system has been recognized for its innovative design and contribution to societal wellbeing. It was awarded Platinum in A' Furniture Design Award in 2017. The award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism, genius, and contribute to societal wellbeing. The Lynko system, with its unique design and functionality, truly embodies these qualities.
In conclusion, Natalia Geci's Lynko system represents a significant breakthrough in the world of design. Its unique properties, innovative realization technology, and commitment to quality and craftsmanship make it a standout piece. The Lynko system is not just a piece of furniture; it is a lifestyle choice, a statement of efficiency and adaptability, and a testament to the power of innovative design.
